Special Forever: an environmental communications project  was jointly initiated by the Murray-Darling Basin Commission and the Primary English Teaching Association in 1993. Although it was intended that the project should run for only two years, it created such enthusiasm amongst schools, students and communities within the Murray-Darling Basin that it has continued on and has now run successfully for fourteen years.

Every year approximately 20,000 students across the Catchment participate in Special Forever learning much about the unique environments that make up their local area and the Murray-Darling Basin as a whole. What and how they learn will continue to influence the ways in which they interact with their local environment throughout their lives.
