Special Forever letter addressed to Principals posted to all primary schools in the Murray-Darling Basin. The letter encourages principals and teachers to make a difference and undertake environmental action in their community. Online registrations open.
Special Forever package addressed to the Environmental Education Coordinator posted to all primary schools in the Murray-Darling Basin.
Package includes:
- 2007 Anthology Liquid Gold
- 2008 Registration Form
- Poster
Teachers contact local experts such as Land Care, Catchment Management Authority, local Council, Indigenous Community Elders to discuss joint project. Unit of work planned and integrated across curriculum.

Students learn about rivers, places and creatures in Murray-Darling Basin by playing Where's Murray?
Finalise plan and/or begin work on environmental action project.

Register for Special Forever online or download a registration form to fax to 02 9565 1070 by the end of Term 1.
Ensure school has registered for Special Forever by the end of first term.
Receive information and resources from the Primary English Teaching Association and Murray-Darling Basin Commission.
Teachers implement Special Forever project :
- engage in environmental learning
- record and document project
- create writing , artwork and multimedia text
Schools select and submit writing and artwork to Regional Coordinators by 23 June 2008
- Consideration for Publication Form (see Forms & Guidelines)should be attached to each piece of student work
- Student Writing/Artwork sent to Regional Coordinator Form, (see Forms & Guidelines) a listing of the names of the students should be completed
Work continues on multimedia texts for submission in 1st September.
Schools request Certificates of Participation for students and community supporters online.
Multimedia texts finalised
Schools informed of names of students whose work has been selected for Anthology and Permission to Publish forms sent to students.
Special Forever Anthology in production.
Regional Displays of writing and artwork.
2008 Certificates of Participation sent to registered schools for completion and distribution to all students, teachers and community members involved in the project.
2008 Certificates of Merit sent to all students whose work was sent to Central selection panel.
2008 Special Forever anthology distributed to Regional Coordinators and students whose work has been published.
Multimedia texts published on Special Forever website.
Students work celebrated at end of year Presentations.
