Publishing Ideas

Special Forever aims to encourage students to think carefully about why they want to communicate, what they want to communicate and who will be their audience. As well as submitting work for publication in the Special Forever Anthology there are opportunities for students to publish at the local level.

The following ideas have been used successfully by teachers participating in Special Forever:

• series of articles in the local newspaper

• supplement to the local newspaper (collaborate with other schools or community groups)
.
• tourist brochure (from a child’s perspective).

• shopping centre display or ‘expo’, with students acting as ‘tour guides’.

• classroom or school display or ‘expo’, where students act as ‘tour guides’ for other classes, parents and local community.

• 2007 calendar produced by class members for the community, with text and illustrations for each month prepared by a different group.

• Various kinds of books for the school library
